Founder's Story
A Vision Born from the Source of the Nile
NBTI was founded by Mistru Tesfaye, who was born in Bahir Dar near Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile.
For more than sixteen years, he has worked at the intersection of education, community development, environmental stewardship, trade, and regional cooperation.
In 2006, he established Kana Academy, an early childhood education institution serving rural communities between Lake Tana and the Choke Mountains. Through this work, thousands of children gained access to educational opportunities and support services.
Building on years of experience in entrepreneurship, community engagement, rural development, and international collaboration, he established NBTI to contribute to sustainable economic transformation across the Nile Basin.
